This series consists of three 50-minute structured workshops but you can come to one or all in any order. Part 3 introduces alternative ways to respond to your anxiety and provides resources to create a personalized action plan for managing anxiety.

Campus and community food allergy/gluten-free resources will be discussed by both our Aramark Dining Services Dietitian, Hanna Serrano, and UHC Dietitian, Heather Harris. Come for mutual support and sharing ideas regarding on-campus meals, snacks, grocery shopping, and community dining, and stay for a tour of the UHC allergy-friendly food pantry. A Fitness Orientation is a group orientation session with a UREC Fitness Manager, a service provided to all members at no additional cost.
A UREC staff member will walk your group through the Fitness Center and show you how to use different equipment to diversify your workout. Take your workout to the next level and register below!
Groups will meet the Fitness Manager in the Atrium by the rock wall!

During this onsite clinic, participants will learn to use equipment and safety systems for belaying other climbers on the rock wall. After completing this program students will be able to take a written and practical skills test to become belay certified in the UREC Adventure Center.
This clinic is designed for beginners. No previous experience is required.

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The course provides the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.

On this weekday adventure participants will ride together in a UREC van out to Bridgewater’s Generations Park to go ice skating. The van will leave from UREC promptly at 3:30 p.m. to arrive at the ice skating session by 4 p.m. The ice skating session will last 1.5 hours and there is a café if you would like to get something to eat while on the trip. The group will then depart immediately after the ice skating session at 5:30 p.m. The cost of registration includes TRANSPORTATION ONLY.
Particiants will need to purchase tickets ahead of time for ice-skating ($6) as well as skate rentals ($4). These can be purchased here
Participants should purchase a ticket for the 4 p.m. ice skating session for the day of the trip. Participants who do not purchae a ticket from Generations Park ahead of time may pick up one of the 20 first-come-first-served tickets upon arrival. However, there is no guarantee that there will be a ticket available.
This trip is designed for all with an interest in ice skating. No previous experience is required.

3:30 PM – 10:00 PM
On this adventure trip participants will ride together in JMU shuttle vans out to Massanutten Ski Resort. The vans will leave from behind the UREC Adventure Center at 3:30 p.m sharp in order to arrive at Massanutten by 4 p.m. Once at Massanutten participants will have the opportunity to hit the slopes to ski or snowboard. The vans will then depart at 9:30 p.m. sharp to head back to UREC. The cost of registration includes transportation. Participants must cover gear rental and slope fees using a promo code that will be delivered to students in the confirmation/reciept email following this purchase.
The College Night special on Friday offers a "Night Slope-Use Ticket" for JMU students coming with the UREC Adventure Ski Spree Program from 4 p.m. -9 p.m. for $30. "Night Equipment Rentals" from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. run for an additional $30.
This trip is designed for all with an interest in skiing and/or snowboarding. No previous experience is required.

On this weekend day trip participants will ride together in a UREC van out to White Grass Ski Touring Center. The van will leave UREC promptly at 8 a.m. so we can be some of the first on the snow at 10 a.m. at White Grass. Once at White Grass participants will have the opportunity to rent cross country skis and get a short group lesson on technique from a local guide. After that, participants can hit the trails in a big group or break off in buddy pairs to explore. For lunch, there is a cozy café on site where you can get a meal to warm up and regroup with the team. Then around 2:30 p.m. when the the group is good and tired, staff will meet you in the lodge to start returning rental gear for a prompt departure from White Grass at 3 p.m. The cost of registration includes TRANSPORTATION ONLY. Participants must cover the day-use fee ($25) and gear rental ($25) and slope fees upon arrival at the lodge.
This trip is designed for all with an interest in cross country skiing. No previous experience is required.

This American Red Cross course provides training for people who are expected to respond to emergencies as part of their job (i.e. EMTs, Athletic Trainers, Nurses, Lifeguards). As a professional rescuer, you will learn to recognize and provide care for respiratory and cardiac emergencies. This class is intended for those who seek a certification for the first time or for those who are renewing their certification.
This class is a hybrid model with online training (approx. 3 hours) completed before the class.

Always wanted to be able to do a handstand but not sure where start? This class will evaluate where you are in your handstand journey as well as give strong progressions to build your handstand strength. Participants will leave with exercises to implement in their workout regimen, that, when done consistently will lead to their first handstand!

On this adventure trip participants will ride together in a UREC van out to High Knob for a 2.7 mile out and back moonlit hike. At the top of the hike participants will take in the view of Virginia and West Virginia atop a massive stone fire tower. Participants must wear closed-toed shoes and bring their own flashlight.
This trip is designed for both beginners and experienced participants to enjoy themselves. No previous experience is required.

On this adventure trip participants will ride together in a UREC van out to Snowshoe Ski Resort. The van will leave UREC promptly at 6:30 a.m. to arrive at the slopes for first chair at 9 a.m. Once at Snowshoe participants will have the opportunity to ski or snowboard. At 4:30 p.m. when day ski ends at Snowshoe, the group will head back to the van to depart promptly at 5:30 p.m. The cost of registration includes TRANSPORTATION ONLY. Participants cover their own slope tickets and gear rentals and are MUST purchase those ahead of time online to avoid being sold out day of. Those tickets can be purchased here.

Pack the Park: Color Run/Walk is a 2 mile, untimed event taking place during JMU's Weeks of Welcome where you will get doused from head to toe in different colored powder throughout the race and finish the race painted in color! There will also be post-race activities, lawn games, pickleball, volleyball and MORE! You must register through UREC Register by August 29 to secure a spot in the race (400 spots available). The first 300 registrants receive a UREC t-shirt and a color packet for the race kick-off. Once we hit capacity, we still encourage you to attend the event to cheer others on or take part in other activities being offered throughout the day!

Meet us at the Frances Plecker Education Center and Welcome Center to pick up your instructions and then enjoy your mindful walk through the arboretum at your own pace. While the event will occur for three hours, the walk can be taken at your own pace so it can take as little as a half an hour or as much as the full three hours--whatever serves you best!
