Details

Spend half a day with the local Harrisonburg community for some uplifting volunteer service! This opportunity will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 16th).

Registration EXTENDED to Wednesday, Jan 11!

Tentative project descriptions below. When registering, please select the project that most interests you.
 

The Arc of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County

  • 9am-1pm
  • Help support The Arc's annual MLK food drive and distribution!
  • We'll pack boxes of food and help to transport them so they're ready to be distributed
  • The ARC is dedicated to "[p]romoting and protecting the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supporting their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes."

Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community

  • 9am-11:45am
  • Alongside VMRC's Life Enrichment Specialists, visit the homes of residents and play table games!
  • VMRC is "a community of hope, meaning and growth for people to age well and live fully." Residents range from fully independent to those needing significant nursing care and/or memory support.

Waterman Elementary School

  • Work in the library organizing picture and nonfiction books and sanding and repainting bookshelves.
